Our Adoptable Cats
A Purrfect Match for a Lifetime
Adopting a cat is a rewarding experience, but it’s also a long-term responsibility. Cats need regular veterinary care, a proper diet, mental stimulation, and plenty of affection. Before you adopt, think about how you can provide a stable and loving environment for your new feline companion, not just now, but for many years to come. As a rescue organization, we take great care in ensuring that every cat we place is matched with a family who understands the commitment of responsible pet ownership. By adopting, you’re giving a cat a second chance at happiness—so please, consider what it takes to provide for them throughout their lives.
Adopting a CFP Cat:
How the Adoption Process Works:
- Meet Our Cats: Our kittens and cats are available for adoption from foster homes around the Triangle, as well as our two Raleigh thrift stores. You can list multiple cats on your application and only need to submit one. CFP adoption events can be a great way to meet several cats at once!
- Submit Your Application: Once you’ve found a cat you’re interested in, complete the adoption application. Our Meow Team will review it and may reach out for clarification. If everything looks good, your application will be sent to the foster(s), who will contact you to set up a meeting if they feel it’s a good fit. We require that all applicants ensure their current and former pets are, and have been:
- Up-to-date on vaccines (including Rabies, and Distemper)
- On monthly preventatives (Flea & tick)
- Spayed or neutered
- Receiving routine veterinary care (annual visits not just sick)
- Meet the Cat: Please bring all household members to the initial meeting, as we want to ensure everyone gets along with the cat. Afterward, if you’re still interested, please email us at meowteam@cfp-nc.org to let us know if you’d like to move forward or meet another cat.
- Adoption Fee & Processing: Once both you and the foster feel a mutual match has been made, we’ll process your application. We’ll also contact your personal references, your vet for pet history, and your landlord (if applicable). We require that all current and previous pets have received regular vet care, and have stayed up to date with all vaccines, and prevention. The $175 adoption fee covers spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchip, and other veterinary care done while in the rescue.
- Final Steps: Once your application is approved, you will receive an email outlining the next steps. The adoption is not finalized until all paperwork is completed (including signing the adoption contract) and the adoption fee is paid. Only then can you bring your new feline companion home!
Thank you for considering adopting from Cause for Paws. By adopting, you’re giving a cat a second chance at a loving, forever home.
